Cocomosaic, the innovative natural wall cladding distributed by Panda Bamboo, won the Best ‘Green’ Stand/Product award at the 2014 Decorex show in Cape Town this weekend.

Cocomosaic tiles are made from coconut shells sourced as a by-product from the harvesting of coconut milk and flesh. Other products in the range are similarly sourced from reclaimed timber and even bark, making for a very sustainable product range. Only water-based, low emission glues and paints are used in the manufacture of the Cocomosaic products.

The Decorex stand also featured Panda Bamboo’s quality strandwoven bamboo flooring and decking. The framework of the stand was sustainably sourced SA Pine battens, covered with Xanita kraft board, which is totally recyclable and biodegradable. The lighting on the stand was particularly effective, and was all low energy LED fittings. The lighting was supplied by LED Lighting South Africa – Light Empowers Design.

This award proves once again that good design and beautiful aesthetics can go hand in hand with sustainability and eco-friendliness.
