Steven Graham is an interior decorator based in Cape Town. Steven shares his lighting recommendations.

  1. Organic is my new favourite word! Lights are as important in a room as a sofa or a bed. It can make or break a room. Where possible, put your lights on a dimmer. This will greatly enhance the mood.
  2. Texture in a room is so important and as you can see in our porcupine hanging lamp shade. This doesn't always have to come in the means of fabric. This grass lamp adds texture and interest.
  3. Bling will always be in. Crystals in the light always catch your eye and bring a bit of glamour into a room. Don't be afraid to oversize your lamps next to your bed. Give the room some drama!
  4. I'm forever hunting for our favourites that sat in our grandparents homes - nothing nicer than an antique lamp having a conversation in the corner of the room. Polish it up and let it shine.
  5. Restore that lamp in the attic, bring back the memories you had reading with your parents around the table. Lamps like these hold many stories and cherished moments.
  6. Not everything has to match, quirk things up with changing the textures between shade and base. This tweed shade allows the amber resin base to subtly show itself off.
